What's it really like? Transfer time: Approx 40 minutes Location: A traditional Greek get-away-from-it-all destination where little has changed. It is set around a stunning coastline that is almost entirely unspoilt - a drowsy tourist village spread over a large area with no more than a sprinkling of facilities. Vassilikos' rural setting makes it ideal for the true escapist who wants nothing than to chill. Development is fairly sparse and naturally visitors may not have instant access to all their home comforts so be prepared to travel out of town for luxuries. The resort is hilly making it unsuitable for the less mobile. Beaches: It seems a shame to put up a parasol on such a well preserved beach which consists of soft sand backed by hills and olive groves with rocky formations dotted about. It really is a stunning location. Watersports available. Days out: A walker's paradise with some beautiful scenery inland and along the coast. Sightseers will have to venture out to other resorts for boat trips, etc. Shopping is limited to basics from the handful of the mini-markets and souvenir shops scattered about. Nights out: Bars provide low-key evening entertainment, whether it be occasional dancing or drinks beneath the stars. There's an adequate mix of restaurants for those who prefer authentic Greek tavernas and a few which offer more conventional tourist fodder. Bucket and Spade Brigade: Only good for true beach babes unless your accommodation has facilities on site. Not recommended for youngsters in buggies due to hilly location. |
