What's it really like? Transfer time: Approx 30 minutes Location: Commercialized Trianda is set along the coast where every tourist amenity is close at hand. Set back from the resort is the old village with its narrow streets and central square where little has changed in decades. Locals have been sheltered from the constant development along this coast which has spread to within touching distance of neighbouring Ixia. Indeed it's possible to walk between the two resorts along the road or beach. Modern Trianda is nothing exceptional, being a base for exploring the rest of the island. Most of the hotels and apartments are of 3/4 storey blocks separated from the beach by the busy coastal road. Beaches: A long pebbly stretch, very uncomfortable to walk on without footwear, linking-up with Ixia. There are good beach bars dotted along the seafront and Watersports available. Windsurfing is popular thanks to the regular sea breezes. Days out: All the sights and (at night) sounds of Rhodes Town are within a short bus or taxi ride away. The island's other attractions; Lindos, the water park and an 18-hole golf course are all within a 50 minute drive away. Trianda has adequate shops divided between the old and the new sectors. More choice in Rhodes Town. Nights out: Mainly bars, some with 'live' music near the seafront or smaller quieter tavernas in the old village. Restaurants cater mainly for tourist tastes. Many people head for Ixia or Rhodes Town via local bus or taxi for more variety. Bucket and Spade Brigade: Satisfactory as a base for children. The rough shingle beach and busy coastal road may put some parents off. |
