Tingaki/Marmari

What's it really like?

Transfer time: Approx 20 minutes

Two very similar resorts separated by 2 miles of open countryside on the north coast.

Location:

Tingaki is a laid back, daytime resort ideal for beach lovers and bird watchers (of the feathered variety!). Set around a sweeping bay, it is surrounded by countryside while the dispersed nature of the development enhances the rural feel.

Marmari is another well scattered resort for those seeking the simple pleasures of a beach-based holiday. It is a clean, peaceful location very much away-from-it-all. Although there are adequate ammenities the area may be somewhat isolated for some.

Beaches:

Tingaki's lovely, uncrowded beach is backed by trees in places - somewhere to escape the crowds. Watersports available.

Marmari's sandy beach stretches to Tingaki where there are sand dunes and wide open spaces.

The coastline here is noted for strong winds which can whip up the tide. Care is needed when swimming in the sea.

Days out:

Alikés saltpans nearby are a haven for birds and attract many keen 'tweeters'. Boat trips to the nearby island of Pserimos are available.

Both resorts have a few basic shops. Kos Town offers greater variety.

Nights out:

Nightlife in these neighbouring villages consists of little more than a handful of quiet tavernas/bars and occasional dancing.

Traditional Greek food is always on the menu in the seafront tavernas balanced with the usual tourist fayre. Limited choice.

Bucket and Spade Brigade:

Not recommended for active children unless your accommodation provides entertainment.

The gently-shelving, sandy beach is a big attraction for families with undemanding youngsters.

Restaurants are friendly and seem to welcome youngsters.
