Costa Teguise

What's it really like ?

Transfer time: Approx 15 minutes

Location:

A modern resort and a natural choice for families thanks to a water park and other amenities which are close by.

The tree-lined promenade and smattering of pavement cafés combine to add a touch of class to Costa Teguise and the area has been beautifully landscaped in places.

While it might not be sophisticated enough for the so-called 'jet-set', it is clean, bright and pleasing on the eye with wide streets and low-rise developments.

Due to its position on an exposed stretch of coastline there's a constant breeze which is refreshing during the hotter months, however in the winter it can be less welcoming.

The flat terrain makes it ideal for the less mobile or pushchairs.

Beaches:

There are several. A large horse-shoe stretch known as Playa de las Cucharas is the most popular although the sand is quite gritty.

Watersports are a favourite activity especially the wind-assisted pastimes such as windsurfing and sailing.

Days out:

The nearby water park attracts families while an 18-hole golf course and indoor sports centre are within a few miles of the centre.

Costa Teguise is well-postioned for exploring the island; Fire Mountain is a 'must see' along with the famous lava caves ( Cueva de los Verdes) which spread for miles underground.

Scattered around the resort are several shopping centres in addition to the main boulevard of Pueblo Maritim with chic boutiques and other outlets supplying all the usual touristy items and groceries.

Nights out:

Evening entertainment is much more subdued than the bright lights and intensive nightlife Puerto del Carmen has to offer.

Most visitors are happy to take evening strolls on the promenade or main street, calling in at a bar along the way.

Modest restaurants provide a fairly wide selection of fast food or international cuisine including a few ex-pat premises.

Bucket and Spade Brigade:

The beaches are well suited to younger ones with good amenities close to hand, including a play ground. For the more active, the nearby water park offers a welcome diversion.
