What's it really like? Transfer time: Approx 50 minutes Location: The very height of Tunisian 'chic', Port el Kantaoui is set around a swish marina surrounded by luxurious hotels. It caters mainly for up market couples, millionaire yacht owners and golfers, however it isn't just for the well-heeled, you'll be just as welcome in your flip-flops. Unlike our other featured Tunisian resorts Port el Kantaoui has been purpose-built so don't expect authentic sites and local history because there isn't any. Instead you'll find lots of the traditional architectural style has been cleverly recreated in the modern developments. OK it's all fake and a bit like a Hollywood set, but it's pretty and clean and will appeal to those looking for a carefree holiday with lots of creature comforts. Beaches: Excellent sandy beaches with water sports and parasols - no natural shade. Days out: Golf is the big attraction with several lush and beautifully manicured courses nearby. To play here you will need proof of your handicap. Bowling and camel rides are also available locally while the bustling streets, ancient sites and better shopping opportunities of Sousse are 15 minutes away. Nights Out: The cafés and restaurants of the marina become the main focal point after sundown. Dancing and 'live' entertainment is available at all the hotels. Bucket and Spade Brigade: A beach/hotel based holiday with little else to occupy children. |
