What's it really like? Transfer time: Approx 10 minutes Location: One main street runs the length of this resort which has managed to hold onto some of its own identity despite rubbing shoulders with Maguluf. It is much quieter than its neighbour but still close enough to the action - should you want it! C'an Pastilla is a child-of-the-60's with buildings to match and some are beginning to show their age although a few modern developments have sprung up. In the centre behind a pleasant harbour is a palm tree-lined promenade with some narrow streets leading off it. The promenade stretches as far as Arenal. The town is popular with British ex-pats who have settled here and their mark so expect the flavour of entertainment to feel familier. Beaches: A magnificent sweep of pale sand set in a large picturesque bay is the main daytime focus of C'an Pastilla. The sand is cleaned regularly and there are some seafront facilities and bars serving refreshments. There are the usual water sports available and clusters of sun loungers. We do get complaints about traders causing a nuisance on the beach but a friendly "No thanks" should disperse them. Days Out: The resort is handy for trips out to Palma City for sightseeing and the Aquacity water park is nearby. The shops are adequate for most tourist needs but there's much more variety in Palma City. Most of the island is easily accessible in a day so there are options to ride out to the see the stalactites at the Caves of Drach or up into the mountains at Formetor. Nights Out: C'an Pastilla offers a large selection of no-frills bars and restaurants suitable for family nights out. The choice of food varies from Spanish, Chinese and Indian with all the usual English options on most menus. Anyone wanting clubs and dance music should head for Magaluf Bucket and Spade Brigade: The beach at C'an Pastilla is safe and sandy with a few rides and playground-style distractions. The land here is flat so well-suited for young children in buggies and prams. Aquacity is on the doorstep and well worth a visit. The busier days tend to be weekends when the locals join in the fun. |
