Cala'n Porter A purpose-built holiday village overlooking a fairly large beach by Menorca's standards (see picture above). One apartment complex has the advantage of a sea-front location...the others are a fair walk down a winding road or about 200 steps. This route can be exhausting, especially on the return journey (uphill), although a road train serves the resort quite well. The soft, clean sand is backed by dunes, overlooked by a stunning rockface and lapped by crystal water that remains knee-deep almost beyond the mouth of the cove. Refreshments are available by the beach. The town itself is served by a dozen or so restaurants and there are numerous shops for essentials. One disco on the edge of the resort supplements the low-key bars. For younger children there's a small funpark with bars providing playareas. Transfer time(approx): 15 minutes
Son Bou
The resort itself is a smart, respectable mix of apartments and villas, and it has a bit more to offer than most, with a wider selection of shops and restaurants. In the evening a few of the bars provide music and there's a disco on site if you fancy a late night. Transfer time(approx): 30 minutes.
Santo Tomás
Serious shop-aholics will be disappointed by the selection, although there are a couple of small shopping centres. Santo Tomas's nightlife consists of a few waterfront bars. Transfer time(approx): 40 minutes. Cala Galdana
Dramatic cliffs plunge down to the sea to enhance the view and most of the accommodation is set up in the mountains so be prepared for some exhausting uphill climbs. The beach is by far the main attraction - but the sand is littered with pine needles and can be prickly underfoot. A snack bar provides food and drinks by the sea and there's lots of natural shade. The resort has a small shopping centre and a few bars which provide the main thrust of the evening entertainment. Not ideal for families with small children or the less mobiles due to hilly location. Transfer time(approx) 45 minutes. Back to Menorcaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa |
