London's Top Luxury Hotels |
|
London is a city positively brimming with rather exclusive hotels. Of course as with anything in the big smoke these days they won’t come cheap but if you fancy a weekend of opulent luxury then any of these should fit the bill: Courthouse Kempinski Hotel, W1 This relatively new addition
to London’s roster of exclusive hotels is housed in a building with
real history. Formerly Britain’s oldest magistrates’ court, where
the notable likes of Oscar Wilde and Mick Jagger stood trial, the
Courthouse has been converted into a hip yet refined 5 star hotel
offering spacious, well appointed rooms and a general air of refined
luxury. It also packs in plenty of impressive features, most notably a
well equipped spa complete with pool and a swanky 100 seat private
screening room. Hempel, W2 Discreetly
situated north of Hyde Park, behind Hempel’s innocuous Victorian façade
is a masterpiece in chic minimalist design. Everything about this
boutique hotel has been given serious consideration and finished with
remarkable attention to detail; you’ll be hard pressed to find another
hotel in London that is quite as elegantly stylish. Staying in Hempel is
a unique experience; less about luxurious indulgence than about
immersing oneself in an environment of exquisite aesthetic
contemplation. The Savoy, WC2R The Savoy remains the ultimate example of old-school exclusivity. Staying at this institution of a hotel is a timeless experience; despite some recent modernising touches the place still exudes a sense of lavish, Hollywood glamour that is unmatched in London. Set in the heart of the West End, just off the Strand, many of the rooms, particularly the palatial suites, enjoy stunning views over the Thames. Of course such vistas come at equally breathtaking prices but when you consider that it was exactly these views that inspired Monet’s (who was a frequent guest) famous paintings of the river it might start to seem worth it.
