What's it really like? Transfer time: Approx 30 minutes Location: One hell of a resort for the young with the emphasis on lazy days and crazy nights. Faliraki is a self-contained holiday town set around a long curving bay with an almost unspoilt skyline thanks to the fact that most of the hotels and apartments are set back from the seafront. It is becoming big on the 18-30 circuit and therefore not recommended for anyone wanting peace and quiet. The island's main road cuts through the heart of town and gets extremely busy, also noise from traffic and music may disturb light sleepers staying in the town centre. Be aware some roads have no pavements and are unlit at night. Beaches: A 4km stretch of sand, it is one of the best beaches on the island with a top selection of water sports including jet skis, ringos and water-skiing. It gets very crowded near the resort centre in the peak summer months. Days out: With a water park complex on the doorstep plus go karts and bungee jumping the only reason people venture further afield is for a shot of Greek culture at Rhodes Town, 20 minutes away. Boat trips to Lindos are also popular. The main street through Faliraki is lined with souvenir shops offering all the usual tat. There's a better choice in Rhodes Town or Lindos. Nights out:
Bucket and Spade Brigade: A great beach of gently shelving sand and the nearby water park may be enough to tempt some parents, but Faliraki gets boisterous and rowdy. |
