What's it really like ? Transfer time: Approx 45 minutes Location: Geared up for Brits who like their home comforts, without overdoing it. There's enough going on around Estartit for just about anyone to fill a fortnight in laid back surroundings; nature lovers, walkers, sports and water sports enthusiasts, beach babes, kids, and because of the flat terrain, even the less mobile are catered for. A yachting marina creates a pleasant atmosphere and the uncluttered, mainly low-rise developments throughout the resort give the feeling of space. On the downside, Estartit gets extremely crowded at peak times, while the weather can be unpredictable in the early and late summer months. Beaches: A long curve of generally good quality sand with enough room to accommodate the summer crowds. Excellent for windsurfing due to the open aspect and sometimes bracing conditions. Scuba divers can have a field day along the nearby coral reefs. Days out: Sailing to some protected islands nearby, and glass bottomed boat trips to the coral beds. Land sports include golf about 20 minutes away. Estartit is fairly remote and not as handy for many of the Costa Brava's excursions. Shopping is limited to essentials only. Nights out: Bars, some quite lively with karaoke, etc and a club or two. Restaurants by the marina are a notch up from the usual touristy eateries scattered throughout. Bucket and Spade Brigade: A safe, sandy beach and sea side fun-fair make Estartit a good choice for younger children. |
