Dassia/Ipsos What's it really like? Transfer time: Approx 25 minutes Location: No more than a mile apart and easily within walking distance, these two resorts have all but merged to create one large Spanish-style resort. Ipsos mainly targets young Brits out for a good time, although it isn't officially on the 18-30 circuit. The seafront 'strip' is rammed with brightly lit music-bars and pubs, competing only with traffic along the coastal road for noise. Care is needed when crossing the road to the beach. Dassia is a little less rowdy although it also suffers from an extremely busy main road which dissects the resort. Beaches: Extremely narrow and painfully sharp shingle beaches - protection for feet a must! The seafront at Ipsos is lined with bars and cafés serving drinks and snacks all day. Dassia also has a number of bar-cafés overlooking the beach. Both have trees providing some natural shade. Probably the most varied selection of water sports on the whole of Corfu. Days out: Boat trips to better, more secluded beaches. Pony-trekking nearby. Buses to Corfu Town (30 mins). The water park - 'Aqualand' probably hosts more visitors from these two resorts in the peak summer months than anywhere else. Nights out: Ipsos provides some bangin' music bars and clubs all along the neon-lit seafront; Dassia is much more laid-back, although there are one or two lively bars along the seafront. Taxis constantly ferry people between the resorts at night. Don't try walking along the unlit road. Restaurants in either resort tend to provide more stomach-fillers than haute-cuisine. Bucket and Spade Brigade: Busy roads, 'lively' nightlife and sharp shingle beaches - probably not the best cocktail for a family holiday. |
