Costa Calma

What's it Really like ?

Transfer time: Approx 1hour 15 minutes

Location:

On the outskirts of Jandia lies this quiet resort which has been purpose-built to take full advantage of a magnificent beach.

Facilities are fairly limited but the surroundings make up for that and Costa Calma epitomises a get-away-from-it-all destination.

It is a favourite with honeymooners and consists of some attractive modern developments set around a handful of shops and bars. These are set in small commercial centres dotted about the resort.

Costa Calma is divided in two by the main coast road which leads further south to the breath-taking dunes of Jandia.

Beaches:

The beach is Costa Calma's main attraction and consists of fine sand backed by low mountains and dunes but not as spectacular as those at jandia and Correlejo.

Sun loungers are available for hire and the coastline offers safe bathing although the wind can pick up at times. All-the-better for the windsurfers!

Days Out:

The resort is well placed for a visit to Jandia and the village of Morro Jable, while anyone hiring a car will find the main road north to Correlejo provides a comfortable journey.

The island's other main attraction, a zoo and camel safari is a few miles down the road.

Shopping in Costa Calma is fairly limited and a trip to Corralejo will offer more choice.

Nights Out:

Nightlife here is restricted to a few traditional restaurants and a sprinkling of Chinese and Indian eateries.

The bars are low-key and occasionally serve-up some 'live' entertainment, mainly karaoke.

Bucket and Spade Brigade:

Be sure your hotel has plenty going on if you're bringing children here, just incase they get bored with the beach.

There's a zoo and camel safari heading out of town. Further north, Caleta de Fuste has a funpark for the under12's.
