What's it really like ? Transfer time: Approx 45 minutes Set around a rugged bay which is dominated by the Hotel Don Pedro, Cala San Vicente is a modest resort which has retained some local character, but with little to offer. The stunning location is surrounded by parched hills and craggy cliffs, reached via a good road from Palma airport. Set back from the beach is a sleepy hamlet of leafy villas and a few ammenities which provide a modicum of holiday provisions. It is a family venue and entertainment is something most visitors create for themselves unless they're staying in the resort's large hotel complex. Note: Cala San Vicente has quite a short season, usually from June to September when the majority of the resort's shops and restaurants are open. Beaches: Though very picturesque, in places the main beach is topped up with sand at the start of each season. Cala Molin beach is just around the corner with even better scenery, a beach bar serving snacks and a few souvenir shops. Days Out: Majorca's main attractions are all within reach and the larger resort of Puerto Pollensa is 10 minutes away by car. Bird watchers flock here for the nearby marshes, so do hill walkers who come to explore the mountainous backdrop. Nights Out: Lots of low-key bars around the town, plus a fair selection of restaurants in the town, or there's more choice if you're prepared to hop in a taxi to Puerto Pollensa Bucket and Spade Brigade: The local beaches are excellent for kids - good sand and sheltered bays, although the rocky coastline might cause a little concern for parents with young children. Further afield youngsters can let off steam at the waterpark |
